Q. I can’t take print outs because of dried ink on the print head. Is there any way to make it print again?
A: Soaking the cartridge in question, for sometime in 1/2 inch of warm water will do the trick. The ink will start leaking out slowing. Remove the printer and wipe it gently with a soft-cloth to ‘Q-tip’. This should clean the cartridge off dried ink. The cartridge can be replaced back in the slot and a cleaning utility for print heads (this is a part of the printer software) can be used. It is recommended to run the cleaning utility 2-4 times and the printing quality will be gradually re-established.
Q. The print output by my cartridge is faded and the print head seems to be clogged. Could you suggest something to set this right?
A: Priming a cartridge is an option for such issues. Priming unblocks or unclogs the print head opening it up for the ink to come through.
The easiest way to prim a cartridge is to hold a damp paper towel on the print head. The towel has to be pressed for approximately 20-30 seconds. Ensure that the copper strip on the print head is facing down while pressing the paper towel. The wet towel will open up the print head of blockages and the ink will flow smoothly again. Once the ink flow is ascertained, you can start using the cartridge for your print jobs.
